Virtual internships are becoming a more commonplace practice and widen the region of opportunity to the entire globe. They offer a great deal of flexibility with regard to work location and work hours and provide valuable real-world work experience. Unless otherwise noted, internship placements require payment of a fee.

UC Davis Programs

UC Davis Virtual Summer Internships

UC Davis Virtual Summer Internships allow you to earn UC Davis internship credit while you gain cross-cultural and professional work experience in diverse fields without the need to travel. These customized virtual internships are available in a variety of career fields. Students also take an online course with a UC Davis faculty that provides students the space to reflect on their experiences.

Universitas 21 (U21) Sustainable Micro-internships

U21 Sustainable Micro-Internships are free online group-based internships. Over a two-week period, students will be presented with an ongoing sustainability challenge and work in groups from around the world to innovate a solution and how to communicate this with stakeholders and host organization.

UC Davis Widening Circles

The UC Davis Widening Circles program combines social impact internships, curated curriculum, personalized mentorship, and digital storytelling. If you don’t participate in the UC Davis program, you can apply directly to an internship. Omprakash offers free virtual internship opportunities from over 40+ countries. Internships can be in health and wellness, environment, education, economic development, construction/rebuilding, rights and advocacy, disabilities, and refugees and migration.

UC Davis Team4Tech Internship

The Team4Tech Virtual Ed Tech Internship offers summer internships that are focused on improving education in underserved communities abroad through technology. Internships are 20+ hours and students are matched based on skills and interests. Team4Tech partners with over 80,000 learners in over 19 countries. Limited virtual summer internships are available for UC Davis students.

UC Davis Washington Program

UC Davis Washington Program is an opportunity for students to do an internship and take classes remotely in the Nation's Capital and surrounding areas while earning 12 units or more. Students will have opportunities to network with UC alumni in DC, learn in small classes from experts in DC, participate in a virtual speaker series featuring DC professionals (past speakers have included Supreme Court Justices, politicians, experts on international, environmental, and health policy, and journalists). Financial aid applies.

Article 26 Backpack Internship

UC Davis Global Affairs and UC Davis Human Rights Studies are building a team of interns to support the Article 26 Backpack – the UC Davis Tool for Universal Academic Mobility. Backpack, as we call it, is a multi-lingual ecosystem that empowers refugees, displaced, and at-risk young people around the world exercise their human right to education.

UC Davis Global Affairs Sustainable Development Goals Internship

The UC Davis Global Affairs Sustainable Development Goals Internship is an opportunity focused on strengthening UC Davis' engagement with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It is a 2-credit internship and will involve 6-8 hours of work per week. Available fall quarter. No cost. Unpaid.

UC Davis Global Center for Latin America and Caribbean Internship

The UC Davis Global Center for Latin America and Caribbean Internship is an opportunity to work with the UC Davis Global Centers team to facilitate information sharing, outreach, and collaboration between regions. The following programs are not affiliated with UC Davis but are open to UC Davis students. Reputable providers operate these programs and students work directly with them for all aspects of the program. CAPA Remote Global Internships

CAPA Remote Global Internships are available in over 2,000 organizations worldwide in Australia, China, England, Ireland, or Italy. Opportunities are available in your field of study with private companies and non-profits. Fall options available.

CEA Virtual Internships Abroad

CEA Virtual Internships Abroad are 6 weeks long and take place in 8 different countries. The internship placement is a competitive process and involves an application and 3 video interviews. Semester options available.

CFHI Virtual Internships

CFHI Virtual Internships explore global and public health issues broadly, over a period of 4 weeks, to learn how communities address their most pressing health challenges. Remote placements are available in Bolivia, Ecuador, Ghana, India, and Mexico, and are open to undergraduate and graduate students. Various start dates available.

CISAbroad Virtual Internships

CISAbroad Virtual Internships are available in a variety of fields including business and economics; government and politics; hospitality, tourism, and event planning; and marketing, advertising, and public relations. Internships include weekly supervisor check-ins; online seminars; mentored, hands-on learning; and weekly debriefs. Fall, spring, and summer options available.

CRCC Asia Virtual International Internships

CRCC Asia Virtual International Internships include a guaranteed internship in the country of your choice, a dedicated career coach, language lessons, and group discussions or webinars. Internships are 20-30 hours per week for 1, 2, or 3 months. Various start dates available.

Evolve Abroad Online Global Internships and Apprenticeships include online modules covering relevant coursework supported by an academic supervisor, internship work with stakeholders in global think tanks and project development teams, and career coaching. Various start dates available.

GE Virtuoso Virtual International Internships

GE Virtuoso Virtual International Internships are remote internships with an international employer and include career and professional development coaching. Internships placements can be for a duration of 8 or 12 weeks. Fall, spring, and summer options available.

ISA Global Remote Internships

The ISA Global Remote Internship Program provides students with the unique opportunity to gain practical 21st century skills, industry connections, and international business experience through project-based learning. Students will participate in either a group project, facilitated, by a professional mentor, or an individual placement. In all cases, participants will work remotely from their own home and still gain valuable international experience. Fall, spring, and summer options available.

Kaya Remote Internships

Kaya Remote Internships are 6, 7, or 8 weeks long and range from 15-30 hours per week. Internships involve working with organizations in Morocco, South Africa, Ecuador, or Vietnam that are tackling social or environmental issues in their local community. Fall, spring, and summer options available.

Paper Airplanes English Program

The Paper Airplanes English Program connects you with Syrian refugee students for English tutoring over Skype. Two-hour weekly sessions take place over 16 weeks using a pre-prepared curriculum. Personalized training is provided virtually over a 2-week period to ensure success. Various start dates available. No cost. Unpaid.
